What Is a Party Bus?

The party bus has several different names. Whether you call it a limo bus, a limousine bus, a party van, a luxury bus, or a Party Ride, it’s one luxurious vehicle. It is a large automobile—typically a commercial vehicle or coach—designed to transport at least ten passengers for recreational purposes. People use these buses for celebrations like weddings, birthdays, graduations, homecoming dances, and family reunions.

Most party busses range between carrying ten and fifty passengers. A driver working for the bus company usually operates these buses.

These buses offer a wide range of amenities, tailored to suit the specific event they are accommodating. Some of these amenities may include:

  • Stereo systems with MP3, CD, and radio capabilities
  • Upgraded electrical systems
  • Video systems
  • Luxury fabrics on seats
  • Luxury seating
  • Stripper poles
  • Smoke machines
  • Laser lights
  • Disco lights
  • Strobe lights
  • Luggage areas
  • Power locks
  • Power doors
  • Power heated mirrors

These buses are typically standardized to meet ADA standards and accommodate disabled passengers. This includes ramps, lifts, and specific seating that can accommodate wheelchairs and walkers for passengers with disabilities that prevent them from walking.

People use these buses for various events like weddings, proms, birthdays, and other special occasions. While most rent party buses for a single day, some choose to rent them for longer periods.

Who can drive a party bus?
In the United States, drivers of party buses carrying more than sixteen passengers must hold a commercial license with a passenger endorsement.
